Be a Part of an Anonymous Social Network with Profoundly

Nowadays, more and more messaging and social media apps are being made available. However, while it lets you connect and send messages, most of these apps require you to reveal your identity. Profoundly is a social networking application that lets you send feedback and messages to your friends anonymously. This program lets you see what people think of you, answer questions from random users, and say things you never dared before.

Anonymous Conversations

Like the popular application Yolo, Profoundly also promotes anonymous conversation. But, while Yolo connects you with your Snapchat friends, Profoundly lets you share your private thoughts with your Facebook friends. And like Yolo, Profoundly has taken the social media world by storm.

According to the developers, Profoundly has millions of users across the globe with nearly 800,000 users joining every month. Within weeks of its introduction, it has become one of the most used applications with more than 40 million anonymous conversations daily. And who wouldn't use it? With Profoundly, you can send messages to your friends that you might be too shy to say personally. Whether a confession, funny jokes, news, and daily life experience, the app can give you the confidence to say what's on your mind.

Profoundly promises that your identity is 100% protected and will stay hidden as long as you wish it to be. It uses encryption to ensure that no user will ever be outed because they sent an anonymous question.   As long as you follow the code of conduct outlined in the app's terms of service, you don't have to worry about the app revealing your identity.

However, only your Facebook friends can send you private messages. That rule narrows down your choices as to who sends you the message, especially if you have a small number of friends. Additionally, by allowing users to send messages without revealing their identity, the app can also be used as a tool for cyberbullying and harassment. Users can use the app to send you any message, may it be spammy, trolling, or bullying in nature.

How the App Works

As mentioned, you will need to connect Profoundly to your Facebook account. But to view messages on your Profoundly inbox, you need to have your Facebook Player ID.  Once you have your ID, you can add them to the app. Just click the Sync with FB Game Inbox link in the Inbox Tab and type the ID. Then, click the Link button, and you're set. You can send messages to your friends without revealing your identity.

You can view all your anonymous messages in your Profoundly inbox. The app provides you with two ways to reply to these messages. You can reply using your Facebook account. On the message, click the Reply on FB button which will open the sharing option. Click the Facebook button to share your answer on your Facebook post.

You can also reply to the message privately. Just tap the Private Reply button to reply without other people knowing.

Bottom Line

Profoundly gives users a way to say things that they are probably scared to post on other platforms. By providing complete anonymity, they can give people confidence. However, this anonymity also gives people a platform to exercise unkind behavior. And while the app gives efforts to keep abusive messages, it is not enough to stop it altogether. So, when you want to be a part of the Profoundly community, you will have to use the app with utmost caution.
